Are Consumers Responsible for Every Ones Fuel Woes??

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

money.jpgIt’s not enough that consumers are paying over 4.00 per gallon for gas. Apparently companies other than Big Oil are jumping on the band wagon of sticking it to us with no Vaseline. American Airlines parent company AMR announced last week that beginning June 15, 2008 they would start charging $15.00 for the first bag checked and $25.00 for each additional piece of checked luggage. The new fee is charged both ways on round trips meaning your total checked baggage fee is $30.00 for the first bag and $50.00 for each additional bag. American Airlines is the first major airline to do this to offset fuel prices which means the other major airlines are waiting in the wings to see if us Consumers fall for this Okie Doke! If there was ever a time to lead a Consumer Rights protest it is today. American Airlines can not survive on Business travelers alone. We have to show American Airlines via the pocket book that we are fed up with their corporate antics.

Let me ask you a question: When our economy began spiraling, did you have the opportunity to tell your Landlord/mortgage Company that due to gas prices and food hikes you have to cut your rent/mortgage by 30% to offset the cost? I think we all should try that as an experiment and see how quick we are directed to the nearest Homeless shelter. What about going to your boss on Monday morning telling him/her you demand a raise effective immediately to offset gas prices. My point? It’s always you and me who have to adjust our budgets while big business simply increases prices in one area to offset another. Their seven figure salaries and life style have zero interruption!

You and I have to use our Consumer power and write, email or call American Airlines and let them know WE WILL BOYCOTT AMERICAN AIRLINES until they withdraw their baggage fee. That’s right I said it! Withdraw!

This is the only effective way to show the other airlines they should not follow suit or we will put them on blast too.

Scenario:
Round trip airfare to the Family Reunion for 2 adults, 2 children= $1900.00
Car Rental and Hotel Fee = $600.00
Misc. expense = $ 400.00
Adding an extra $320.00 for checked Luggage = Ridiculous

If you are just as angry as ya Gyrl and will not stand for it, email this article to everyone you know. Godspeed ~ Latoya

Is God being removed from America?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

drpepper.bmpWhat’s up with this movement to remove God and any thing associated with God from America? I have a serious bone to pick and feel now more than ever I need to make clear where I stand with this. I vividly recall the frenzy America was in as we approached year 2000. We even gave it a special name, Y2k. Remember all the computers were supposed to melt down, money would be wiped from all the banks computer systems and I was hoping the lost money would erroneously find its way into my bank account. January 1, 2000 ended up being a regular day and all the extra water/survival rations purchased are probably still stacked in every ones garage.

What Y2k did bring was a faction of people who was determined to remove God from our lives. In 2001 Dr. Pepper introduced a patriotic can donning the Statute of Liberty omitting the words “under God” so as not to offend anyone. In 2002 an Atheist dad made the news headlines when he sued his daughters school district for making her say “under God” while reciting the pledge of allegiance. Since then more haters have come out the closet to join the movement toward a Godless society. The new one dollar coins circulated in 2007 removed the words In God We Trust from the face of the coin to the outer ridge. Next, the words will be completely removed and no one will notice. I was raised in the church and grew up singing gospels as well as patriotic American anthems, all of which have the word God in the lyrics. We are living in a society where murders are rampant, crimes are senseless, terrorist attacks are eminent and pedophiles are repeatedly released back into our community like wolves among sheep, and amidst it all, the umbrella of God is no longer needed???????. Is it just me? Tell me what’s on your mind. Holla at ya Gyrl!

Is it true? Are we only voting for Barack Obama because he is Black?

Shirley Chisholm – 1972
Jesse Jackson – 1984 & 1988
Al Sharpton – 2004,
Alan Keyes – 1996, 2000, 2008

What is the correlation among these Black leaders? With the exception of Alan Keyes who represented the Republican Party, all have vied unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for the presidential election. Enter 2008 one would be led to believe Barack Obama is the first Black person in history to make this feat. So what is it that places Obama on a higher platform than his predecessors? I applaud Shirley Chisholm and her determination, but in 1972 racism against blacks remained so upfront and open that America never would have allowed any black person to be President much less a black woman! Shirley Chisholm laid the foundation and brought to life the belief that we as a people can strive for something unimaginable.

We have all joked at one time or another about “painting the White House black”, and having barbeques (they way we do it) on the White House Lawn. The closest we ever came to making that fantasy come true was when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton announced their run for President. They represented Black America, the peace sign, Blue Magic hair grease, fried chicken, collard greens and all things Black. Unfortunately their message for change did not absorb the ears of all Americans. Republican Alan Keyes wasn’t embraced by the Black Community and never made any attempt to connect with us. We saw him as the guy on the “other” team, so he got no support from us (Keyes separated from the Republican Party this year).

Barack Obama is touted as the Savior able to unite the divide within our nation and create positive alliance internationally. As a culture, people of color and low economic status are no longer waiting patiently for our turn. We have traded our relaxed approach to politics for a more aggressive position. We are vocal about the things that matter to us and our livelihood and are tired of being ignored. We want a country which promotes peace, freedom of religious belief, acceptance and respect of all life styles, lower taxes, good paying jobs, and health care for everyone. It is assumed if you are black, you are only voting for Obama because he is black. Well, if that was the case we would have been barbequing on the White House Lawn alongside Jesse or Al a long long time ago! Obama’s being Black is merely a piece of the pie. It’s not the whole pie! Obama is a man whom America is willing to embrace. I clearly see his vision of change and direction he wants this country to go in and it is reachable. More importantly, his vision is for the benefit of all people not just some. Obamas’ plan for America uplifts the poor and middle class yet does not punish the upper class or wealthy. He paints a happy medium and dispels the myth that the classes can not come together. I’m voting for Obama because I want the wheel re-invented, how about you?
Are you voting Obama because he is a Black person? Are you voting for him at all? Holla at me, and tell me your position.
